Thereâs something especially rewarding about being invited back into a clientâs home for a second project. After working together on their first renovation, our clients were ready to transform another part of their peaceful country home â this time focusing on the kitchen, dining area and laundry room.
Surrounded by mature trees and beautiful views, the home already had plenty of character. Our goal was to create an updated space that felt just as warm and welcoming, while significantly improving the way it functioned for everyday life.

With clients who love to cook, entertain and gather with family and friends, the kitchen needed to work hard â but we also wanted it to feel polished, personal and connected to the rest of their home.

A Kitchen Made for Gathering
At the centre of the new kitchen is a substantial custom wood island, bringing warmth and richness to the soft, neutral palette.
More than a beautiful focal point, the island was designed as a true gathering place â providing generous workspace for cooking and prep, along with comfortable seating that allows family and guests to pull up a chair and be part of the action.
Custom cabinetry makes the most of the available space, incorporating thoughtful storage and integrated appliances to maintain a clean, streamlined look. The result is a kitchen that feels calm and uncluttered, while everything needed for everyday cooking is close at hand.

Layers of Warmth & Texture
Rather than relying on one statement finish, this kitchen comes to life through layers of subtle texture, warm wood and carefully considered details.
Champagne gold hardware adds warmth against the cabinetry, while custom pendants create a striking focal point above the walnut island.
For the counters and backsplash, we selected a durable Coverlam sintered stone surface with soft movement and natural character. Extending the material vertically creates a seamless backdrop while allowing the cabinetry, lighting and wood tones to take centre stage.
Itâs a restrained palette, but one with plenty of depth â proof that a neutral kitchen certainly doesnât have to feel boring!
Details Designed Around Real Life
Some of our favourite elements of a renovation are the details you may not notice immediately.
Throughout Culinary Collective, custom cabinetry allowed us to create storage tailored specifically to our clients and the way they use their kitchen. Appliances are thoughtfully integrated, everyday necessities have a designated home, and each element was considered as part of the overall design rather than added as an afterthought.

These small decisions make an enormous difference in how a finished kitchen looks â and, more importantly, how effortlessly it functions.
Connecting the Kitchen & Dining Space
The adjoining dining area gave us an opportunity to soften the harder surfaces of the kitchen and introduce another layer of personality.
Textured wallpaper creates a beautiful backdrop, while tailored drapery frames the windows and adds softness to the room. Our clientsâ extensive art collection brings colour and character into the space, making the finished design feel collected and personal rather than brand new.

Together, these details create a natural transition from cooking to dining â and a comfortable setting for everything from everyday meals to larger gatherings.
Making the Everyday Spaces Beautiful
The renovation continued into the laundry room, where functionality was equally important. A custom wood and reeded-glass barn door adds architectural interest while hiding any mess and still allowing natural light to filter through.
Custom cabinetry provides practical storage and keeps everyday necessities tucked away, while finishes coordinate with the adjoining spaces for a cohesive feel.
